Savoring the birthday cake is the highest point for kids at any birthday party. The more the tiers of the cake, the higher the excitement. Well, did you know that the delicious cream coated cake, could be instrumental in teaching the young ones to draw through the use of some basic shapes? Add to that, the thought of the yummy icing that is going to keep them hooked throughout the activity.
Step 1: Draw a big tub-like structure with an oval on top. Vertical and horizontal guides may help in drawing the oval. They should be erased later.
Step 2: A similar but smaller shape is drawn above the first one. Erase the part of the bigger oval that is blocked from view by this new structure.
Step 3: Serrated lines signify the icings on both the tiers.
Step 4: A series of circles drawn above the bigger oval depict cherries.
Step 5: A couple of double serrated lines add to the adornments. Erase the outline of the cake overlapped by the cherries.
Step 6: Dot a couple of sections with tiny oblong shapes as shown below.
Step 7: Now comes the time to draw the candles on the top. Each has a holder, wick and a flame and a serrated line to depict melted wax.
Step 8: Draw the oval base and get rid of the outline of the cake that is guarded by the candles.
Step 9: Paint it in your choice of colors.
Kids are going to have a gala time sketching while reminiscing the delightful moments of their last birthday. If their birthday is not far off, you might find them bubbling with plans for the coveted cake.
