Love the “Tom and Jerry” cartoons? Ever wanted to draw the characters yourself? Spike, the hostile bulldog always after Tom, is one of the trickiest characters to illustrate. Here are the step-by-step instructions for drawing a neat picture of Spike. The instructions can also come handy if you need to draw a cartoon dog for an art class project or a holiday craft.
Step 1
- Start working by drawing the outline of Spike’s head as shown in the first picture. It is a vital step as a wrong or uneven head shape can ruin the whole drawing.
Step 2
- Next, complete the ears, draw the small roundish nose and add some details to the open mouth. The red lines show the new additions in each step.
Step 3
- See the red line to draw the body. Then, add a tiny “u” for the tail followed by the only visible eye and an outline for the dog collar.
Step 4
- Now, it is time to draw the legs of your Spike. See picture 4 to work on the outlines of the legs.
Step 5
- Once the outlined picture is done, it is time to work on the details. See picture 5 to add a few lines and creases to make the face look more real. Also, don’t forget to draw the teeth; otherwise, the hostile grimace will look incomplete.
- This is also the step where you are going to complete drawing the spiky collar (picture 5).
Step 6
- Work over the outline of the right foreleg and paw to make them look more realistic. Also, redo the tiny tail and erase the part of the body running through the tail’s base.
Step 7
- Now, it is time to complete the drawing by redoing the left front leg and the hind leg along with the paws. Erase the all outlines drawn in the earlier steps.
- Then, fill the nose with black, add a tiny pupil in the only eye you drew in step 3 and you are done.
oh i love you
