How to Draw a Graduation Cap

The mortarboard is the one thing that people look forward to flaunting on their graduation day. The black square cap teamed with the graduation gown is an integral part of any graduation ceremony. The head gear is symbolic to the graduation tradition through ages and is rooted in British culture.

Step 1: Draw a rhombus.

Step 2: Draw 3 straight lines coming out of it.

Step 3: Draw an oval at the center of the rhombus.

Step 4: Give a rectangular border to the 2 frontal sides of the rhombus.

Step 5: Give an inner margin to the oval and thicken the straight lines at the extremes and the rhombus with its border.

Step 6: Sketch an arc to join the left-most straight line to the one at the center.

Step 7: Same is done to the right side of the figure.

Step 8: Erase the middle line guide. Draw a curved double-line with a circle at the end.

Step 9: Finish the tassel.

Step 10: Detail the tassel with curved lines.

Once you have gone through the steps, you know that it is no rocket science. Just a few linear and curved lines and you are done. The biggest challenge though is to get the rhombus correct in the first step. The scale would come in handy for the task. It can also help with the measurements that are required to put the oval at the center in step 3.

    This was not very helpful. I am a terrible drawer and it may be easier if you add a video of someone drawing it. Overall, my drawing turned out amazing.
